A striking black bird with a white band across its tail feather tips, the prized Huia is now extinct. Huia were regarded as Tapu (sacred) by Māori, and the wearing of the beautiful feathers was reserved for people of high status.
Sterling silver feathers are 30mm long, hand-painted in black porcelain paint, tinged with gold, and tipped in white. Heart shaped koru detail on the tip of the feather and hang from sterling silver ear hooks.
Nicki Cliff jewellery is intentionally dainty and delicate, and care should be taken when wearing and storing each piece. It is recommended that the jewellery is not worn while exercising, swimming, gardening, showering, cleaning, or sleeping. Pieces should be stored out of direct sunlight and away from moisture, excessive heat, or cold, and should not be kept in the bathroom. Avoid contact with household chemicals, perfumes, creams, and hairsprays or gels.
While Nicki would be delighted for her jewellery to be worn and enjoyed often, the longevity of hand painted and 24k gold embellished pieces will be extended if they are not worn on a daily basis.
