Taranaki is a magestic cone shaped maunga (mountain) in Aotearoa's North Island. The form of this maunga and its magma core inspired this slip-stitch pattern.
Made from Otago Polwarth wool and a uniquely New Zealand wild breed of ancient Merino wool called Arapawa. It has been processed without superwash treatments to preserve the character of these unique fibres. Hand wash with care.

Knit Shepherd's designs take inspiration from the natural world of Aotearoa. The patterns are inspired by locations throughout the motu and the colours names reference our native fauna. All Knit Shepherd designs are produced locally, employing a low-waste process.
Sarah Shepherd is the textile designer behind Knit Shepherd, a textile design studio where traditional craft meets modern technology. Sarah's goal is to tell the stories of New Zealand's natural fibres and their origin through beautiful textiles.
