Alex specialises in throwing on the wheel and nerikomi - the Japanese art of folding coloured clay. Nerikomi is a decorative process that involves the stacking and ‘Chop’ refers to the cross-sectional slicing of coloured clay.

'I love this technique so much that I incorporate pattern making into the entire body of the vessel. The stripes are made directly from the slices off a patterned block of clay.

Clay as it does for so many people sparked an absolute love for making and self-expression in me to the point where I find myself a ceramic artist today.
