The Maker's Gift: Tim Christie
Tim Christie is a multi disciplinary artist who explores the dialogue between precise technical aesthetics and the natural symmetry of the human face, bridging geometric design and anatomy.
Charlotte Suggate is a painter who finds beauty in everyday botanicals; the wild daisies, clover, tall grasses + overgrown gardens that are easily overlooked yet return each season with resilience + joy. Her work offers controlled slices of the outdoors; immersive, intimate views that feel as though they continue beyond the frame. Charlotte brings the botanic world into the home, celebrating the humble, the persistent + the quietly radiant.
Charlotte feels a particular connection with wild unruly botanicals and likes to capture the wild joy of flowers that bloom boldly where they please. Their persistence reassures us as they return each year, transformed with vibrant colour and amplified beauty. Quietly reckless yet deeply reassuring.
Charlotte often begins her process with photos from her walks, then paints in layers with bold colour and tiny brushes, even on big canvases. Neon pops and detail bring the scene alive, inviting you to feel immersed among the daisies and grasses.
She works across a range of substrates including canvas, panel board, and paper, exploring how each surface brings its own character to the process. Framing is another space for experimentation, from floating oak and coloured circular frames to playful wobbly styles and oversized mat boards. For her, the right frame shifts a work’s mood, acting as a companion rather than a boundary.
Colour exploration is central to her practice, as she amplifies existing hues and pushes them into unexpected territory, turning grass into neon strands or clover into soft washes of turquoise.
