We took the beautiful glass works of Justin Culina to Back Beach, where they looked fabulous and dynamic among the shimmering and wild surroundings. Justin's glass works are renown for their undulating and fluid form, paying homage to our unique coastal setting here in Aotearoa.
From shells, to ocean currents, birds, and natural flora, Justin gathers inspiration drawn from the the ever enduring energy of nature.
Here in Taranaki, Back Beach is one of many popular and iconic locations around the surf highway. Taranaki's famous surf breaks are in full force here, ocean swells surging and sweeping across the bay, and at its heart and centre, the majestic Ngā Motu / Sugar Loaf Islands, nestled beside the towering Paritutu Rock. The largest of the islands, Moturoa Island, and Motumahanga is the island furthest from shore.

Dawn's work draws upon traditional hand-making skills, sculpting and mould making combined with her love of design. I had the pleasure of asking the talented ceramic artist, Dawn Clayden about what makes her tick and what her creative process looks like.
We are proud + excited to to share with you three incredible artists, each inspired by the ephemeral and fleeting beauty of flora and nature. Each artist has rendered their work using contrasting materials, yet share a love for colour, texture and form. We hope you enjoy this wonderful celebration...
