Sarah Ziessen is a Bay of Plenty based ceramic artist, whose work explores themes of connectivity. Born in London, Sarah immigrated to Aotearoa in 2002. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a focus on painting, at Whitecliffe College. In 2018 Sarah won the National Contemporary Art Award, with her painted sculptural work: You and Me. The Weight of History.
After winning the award, Sarah’s practice pivoted to ceramics — she now runs a pottery studio and teaches art full time. Sarah is currently elbow deep in an exploration of ceramic surface and its relationship with form.
Please note there may be slight variations in size and design due to each piece being individually handmade
