Ingredients - singe estate, organically grown black tea
A Picker's Pocket specialty. 'We don’t think there is anyone who would know how to brew tea better than the pluckers who harvest our fresh tea leaves daily.'
This black tea is made the same way that estate workers make tea at home.
With limited resources to process the tea, the leaves are pounded in a stone ‘Vangedi’ in village homes by the pluckers themselves before oxidising and drying.
It’s illegal to make this tea on the big estates since it means the workers must be ‘pocketing’ the leaves! Thieves’ Tea is grown at our organic garden in the hills above Ravana Waterfall in Sri Lanka’s cooler mountain region, the Uva Province.
The result is one of our favourite loose leaf teas that’s full of flavour and easy to drink with or without milk.

New Zealanders Sally and Alex founded Picker’s Pocket Tea. Their ethos is about doing things the right way.
'For us, that means knowing exactly where all our tea is grown, and who grows it. It means giving our expert pickers the respect (and pay) they deserve. And it means sharing with you the story of how our tea came to be.
We know where our tea comes from & we share that with you.
Our growers are at the heart of our business, and everything we do is focussed around how we can support the plantation communities.
Everything that goes into our teas & tisanes comes straight from nature - starting from the high-grade hand-picked black tea to the organically grown spices. We're proud that our teas not only taste great, but they also make an impact - and we hope you love that too!'
We are proud to say that on our boxes you will see the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) logo. By choosing this product, you are supporting responsible management of the world's forests. The clear bags containing loose tea are NatureFlex -an award winning compostable material made from plant not plastic.
