Angela Whitney is a textile artist whose practice explores the relationship between colour, pattern and texture. With over twenty years of experience as a visual designer, her work reflects a considered shift from digital design to slow, tactile making. She works with repetition, grid structures and subtle variation, drawing quiet influence from the rhythms and textures of both the natural world and the built environment. For Whitney, colour operates as both structure and rhythm, while materiality and tension introduce moments of softness and imperfection.

Her practice is intentionally slow and meditative, placing emphasis on process and material engagement. Through this approach, Whitney explores balance, restraint and the quiet visual language that emerges when design sensibilities meet handmade textile forms. Her practice continues to be grounded in curiosity, craftsmanship and the slow process of making.

Caring for your artwork: 

With a little care, your artwork will remain vibrant and beautiful for years to come. The fibres are delicate, so handle the piece gently and avoid touching the yarn unnecessarily. If the fibres happen to shift during transport, they can be carefully moved back into place with clean hands. 

To help preserve the colours, display the artwork away from direct sunlight. Should it gather dust over time, a lint roller can be gently used across the surface to keep it looking fresh.
