Blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary and experimental approaches, Rika Nagahata creates captivating works that invite viewers into richly detailed visual worlds. Born in Osaka, Rika lives in New Zealand since 2008, she holds a degree in printmaking from Osaka Art University. Originally focused on copper-plate printing techniques, Rika’s work has evolved to incorporate ink and watercolour, while retaining the delicate patterns and fine lines characteristic of etching. This shift brings a unique presence and intimacy to her originals, encouraging viewers to slow down and lose themselves in the intricacy of her imagery.
