Harakeke (flax) weaving by weaver Bernadette Ross
980mm Diameter
Inspired by New Zealand's beautiful Rakau - native timber
Bernadette Ross is a harakeke (flax) weaver whose practice is deeply grounded in the natural world and the traditions of raranga. Living near the bush and sea, she draws inspiration from the textures, colours and rhythms of her environment. Raised on farmland, Bernadette maintains a strong connection to the whenua, which informs her approach to hand-dyeing and weaving. Each piece she creates is a reflection of her surroundings and a continuation of a rich cultural lineage.
