Limited edition of 15 sets of three bronzes
This is my biggest set of bronze Moving Mountains to date, weighing in at 9kg all up, so they have a really nice massive feel. Although they’re solid, they are still simple to move around, so you get the satisfaction of rearranging them the way you want.
Largest Mountain is 144mm high x 252mm wide x 107mm deep
Medium is 109mm high x 188mm wide x 94mm deep
Small is 85mm high x 165mm wide x 40mm deep
Nicholas Duval-Smith was born and educated in Ōtepoti (Dunedin). He studied at the Otago Polytechnic School of Fine Arts from 1988 to 1990, and again in 2007 and 2008, majoring in sculpture and jewellery. He now lives in Motueka, and his studio is at Frost and Fire, the Tasman gallery and workspace started by Darryl Frost.
Duval-Smith’s creative practice offers opportunities to relax and play with sculpture that moves and lasts. In terms of shapes, he searches for a meeting point between his love for natural form and for simplicity. He makes art that you can attach meaning to, and make your own stories with.
