Brought up by her artistic father, self taught artist Kathryn Furniss has been creating from an early age, drawing inspiration from the Pacific landscape, native birds, flora and fauna. Her birds tell stories and evoke feelings, with shadow birds symbolising connection to the past, while paddles represent protection and boats and oars reflect journeys, both real and imagined. Over the past 18 years, Kathryn has exhibited successfully throughout New Zealand and internationally.
