Paula Coulthard’s Heavy Whale series follows the same sperm whale design across each work, yet no two are ever identical. Painted using a stencil and then scrubbed with water over gravel, the process creates variations in splashes, textures and atmosphere, allowing each piece to subtly differ while the whale form remains constant.
