Most of her inspiration comes from the beautiful scenery from across the country using seasonal colours and symbols run throughout her work and the very detailed work that has become her niche.
Artist and illustrator Tracy Watson is a full time working artist and is best known for her illustrative contemporary landscapes which adorn walls all around New Zealand and internationally.
Tracy, who studied computer graphics at The Media Design School in Auckland, frequently applies her skills in her work, including her children's book 'The Epic Animal ABC' published in 2016.
Tracy has visited small towns and rural properties throughout the country for inspiration. "We are so lucky here in New Zealand, you can pretty much drive 10 minutes in any direction and see the most incredible scenery and depending on the time of year the colours change to suit the weather, it really is spectacular for an artist".

Tracy uses a variety of mediums in her work, acrylic on canvas, inks, pencils and acrylic artist pens to get the fine detail in her work. She usually works on 4-5 pieces at a time as she's waiting for "paint to dry" and a thick acrylic type varnish sets her work apart.
"I recently had another artist say my work looks good enough to lick!" Because of the varnish it gives the impression of a glossy candy like look - I guess is what she meant.
"My favourite place is my garden studio. My husband Matt built it by hand and it's basically a tiny house with a full kitchen and bathroom included. I have two bunnies Albie and E.T who live in the studio free range. I also have a garden area where I house 13 other bunnies. It's basically a bunny town and it inspires me every day when I look out onto them. It can be a bit disastrous though recently Albie ate the corner of a painting."
All Tracy's works are originals. She has never had prints or sold copies, all are 1/1 and her customers know when purchasing a Tracy Watson piece they own the one and only painting which can take months to paint with all its fine details.
"My working motto is: When you love your work, it's not work. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've been given to paint every day and to work alongside fantastic people in the art industry."
