"My love of colour, composition and mark making informs my practice, and I'm constantly evolving my style and approach to creating art."
My process is deeply intuitive and paintings begin with no plan until the first marks appear. Putting down those first layers is my favourite part, and they guide the direction of the piece. I often feel like the artwork creates itself, rather than me being in control of the outcome. Stepping back an allowing this is really freeing, and quite meditative.
My expressive, gestural style reflects my curiosity of seeking beauty in the imperfect as raw, bold marks often appear through ‘happy accidents’. This fluid approach involves overpainting layers of colour to add texture and depth, then paring back and adding detail.
