Anna Korver

Unique Sculpture

Korver’s practice has long explored the intersection of form and identity.

In this sculptural series, Anna Korver reimagines the humble dart as a vessel for memory, imagination, and shared experience. Drawing from her recent journeys, Korver reflects on the universality of the dart as a childhood game; a small object that carried with it a sense of hope, possibility, and playful projection into the world.

Each hand-painted steel dart becomes a symbolic marker of journeys taken and destinations imagined. Their light-hearted, whimsical character sits in deliberate contrast to the references woven into their surfaces: vibrant army insignia ties in the idea of unity, cohesion, and collective identity.

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture from University of Canterbury (2003), she has worked internationally in stone, wood, steel and mixed media; from polished marble dresses to architectural inspired sculptures exploring space, home, and the self.
Her works often balance strength and vulnerability, minimalism and emotion; many explore what it means to inhabit one’s identity, to deconstruct and reconstruct the self through sculptural form.

In the darts series, that same language evolves. These steel darts small, unassuming, and playful draw together memory, movement, belonging, and possibility. They invite the viewer to reflect on their own journeys: the places they’ve come from, the places they might go, and the ties that bind us together.
