Artist - Anna Gedson

Born and Raised in Opotiki, Descendant of Ngati Rua – Whakatohea.

Anna is a very well established Maori Artist based in Opotiki. Exhibiting her work in a number of design stores and galleries throughout the Aotearoa, after studying her craft in Wellington. Anna’s work has been included in many national and local exhibitions and as a finalist in both the Waikato Museum No. 8 Wire exhibition and the Molly Morpeth Canady 3D award exhibition.

She draws inspiration from her Maori heritage and is strongly influenced by the beautiful traditional Maori Arts, which she then weaves into works with a contemporary feel. Anna loves working with a combination of natural materials such as flax, feathers and metals, presenting each piece of artwork as a precious taonga or (treasure)
