Nic Tucker, of Ngāi Tahu and Ngāti Kahungunu, has a strong connection to the land, and a deep understanding of its significance to people, serves as a central inspiration for her woodcut artworks.
Travelling across the country continually fuels Tucker’s creative vision, with the landscapes, energy, and beauty of Aotearoa reflected in each piece. Her practice centres on traditional Japanese woodblock carving and hand-printing techniques. Each colour in a work is printed from a separately carved and inked block of wood, with the final image brought together by printing a key block which often contains the detailed line work over the layered colours.
Working from a large printing press, Nic especially enjoys producing works that translate the power and presence of the land into bold, expressive prints.
Note: Each print is individually printed and may have slight variants in colour to the image shown. Please feel free to email us for a picture of the image we have in stock.
