As Rob Barrington describes, Kereru @ South Taranaki, captures the majestic journey from Whanganui to Taranaki, where, on clear days, the sweeping vistas of Mt Taranaki reveal themselves in all their grandeur. As the road curves, the landscape unfolds to showcase iconic homes, from farmhouses to townships, anchoring the painting in a sense of place and memory. Native and domestic birds populate these lands, yet it is the Kereru, or native wood pigeon, that reigns supreme, commanding attention with its graceful flight. The work celebrates the interplay of landscape, architecture, and wildlife, inviting viewers to pause and experience a moment of natural and cultural connection.
