Light box - Mānawanawa
Ellis Aranga has worked with ATARAU Lighting to create a limited series of Tonga - Te Kuha. Ellis is a ta moko artist working from a respected studio in Auckland City.
Each light box has been lined with LED strip lights and a power source which has a two metre power cord coming out the back of the box. The frame is made of an 18mm ply. The design itself has been vectorised and laser cut into a vinyl adhesive and applied to a 3mm acrylic screen.
The light boxes have a metal wire running across the back of the box to hang on the wall. The boxes can also safely stand on their own to display on the ground.
'Mānawanawa teaches us about the importance of patience and determination. This design represents the importance of persevering through tough times and having the patience to personify determination in striving to achieve your dreams and goals. Patience is not just the ability to wait but an opportunity to reflect on life's many lessons. Good things take time! Kia mānawanawa nui mai'
