Many stories are told and problems solved over a cup of tea! Angie's paintings for 2016 were inspired from moments in history. Angie believes pictures speak louder than words, so she invites you to ponder over the images and she hopes they initiate some conversation and perhaps even your own historical stories.
Descendants of Maori cup - inspired by the Maori ware manufactured by Royal Dalton (1906 to 1923). Maori were the first settlers to New Zealand, thought to be around the 13th century. The blue and white cup I designed myself to represent the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, the first European to discover New Zealand in 1642. Yellow/pink cup - signifies the British explorer James Cook, the first European to outline the coast of New Zealand (late 18th century) and may also be the cup he drank from on his voyages. Butterflies can symbolise hope, new beginnings and happiness.
