Tanya Blong - The Interior
Kina NZ Design + Artspace is pleased to present a new body of work by New Zealand based artist Tanya Blong.
Blong’s work is a commentary on the relationship humans have with nature and the concerning global decline of this partnership.
This is played out in her recent body of work The Interior - a heady intoxication of paintings, featuring overtly lush botanicals and black silhouette figures; one is not sure if they are in unison or a struggle of dominance.
Recently returned from living in Western Australia, Tanya Blong was raised on the shores of Taranaki. She graduated in 2006 with a major in Sculpture and Painting from Hungry Creek Art and Craft School, Puhoi, Auckland.
Alternating between 2D and 3D work, Blong has had numerous solo shows, and contributed to many public exhibitions. Her work is held in the James Wallace Collection as well as private international collections.
'The Interior' opens 21st April at 5pm
