7inch Series
285mm x 285mm framed
Mixed media – block printing ink, acrylic and aerosol on found corrugated card.
Each 7” artwork is a unique, mixed-media work that contemplates the fragility of our landscapes. The ongoing series of paintings explores the ‘things we leave behind’ and are based on the relationship between man-made structures and their interaction with the natural environment. “Through this juxtaposition I invite viewers to question their place in the world and the marks they leave on the landscape.
The materials used in the creation of these artworks continue my fascination of working with found materials. Recently I have been working on a series of mixed media projects on found corrugated cardboard. These works represent my concern with the increasing amount of waste we produce, and the lack of consideration for the impact it has on our environment. The aim of these pieces is to upcycle unwanted materials into art, giving them a second life which is more permanent - whilst raising awareness about waste minimisation.
The size selected for these works also give a nod to my love of collecting and dj-ing second hand 45s in both the UK & NZ. - Hamish Macaulay
