Formally trained in footwear design and joinery Ian has combined the two resulting in a new type of artwork. He now creates items from native and exotic wood. His designs and motifs reflect New Zealand’s place in the Pacific.
“I try to infuse the Pacific into every piece I create. From sweet smelling frangipanis to glorious unfurling ferns, tapa, flax, stone, paua - all used to recreate the magic of our place – Aotearoa”.
Ian and his team are proud to be New Zealand made and all of the wooden products are lovingly created and distributed by their talented team in Riverton (30 minutes West of Invercargill).
Cut using the latest laser technology every product is then assembled and finished by hand.
You can be sure that every one of Ian Blackwell's pieces has been put together with great care, attention to detail and the Pride of the South!
