Amber Smith is a ceramic artist based in Whakatū (Nelson). Her work draws inspiration from te ao Maori and the nature surrounding us in Aotearoa.
The ceramics are made in sgraffito, a method of first staining and then etching into the stain.
Hand-thrown on the pottery wheel this tea bowl fits lovely in the hand.
Kowhaiwhai all etched by hand.
Perfectly imperfect.
Finished in gloss clear glaze.
