The Rifleman - Guns n Roses

The rifleman or titipounamu

(Acanthisitta chloris)

The rifleman is the very smallest of our endemic birds at only 8cm long.

The rifleman’s English, Maori and scientific names all refer to the male’s green plumage: NZ Infantry riflemen wore green coats, pounamu is the Maori name for greenstone, and chloris is Greek for yellowish green.

This collection allows me to explore the fun there is to be had with language, symbolism and entrenched beliefs in a quirky, humorous way.

The giclee fine art reproduction is printed on 340gsm cotton rag acid free paper using archival inks. It is recommended to frame the print and hang away from direct sunlight.
